Kerfourn Jean Village Cottage nr Pontivy

Kerfourn Village is 5 miles from the riverside town of Pontivy and 12 miles from the medieval town of Josselin. "Jean Cottage" is a beautifully renovated village house, which has retained original features such as the oak beams and wooden floors; the local boulangerie and bar are only a very short stroll away. The house has its own garden, courtyard and parking. This can be rented with Shelleth Cottage (No 2a), so if grandparents wish to come on holiday with the kids, they can have their own space!

On the ground floor you will find an open plan lounge dining area with a corner kitchen which is fully equipped with refrigerator, gas cooker and oven and microwave oven.

The lounge dining area has radio/CD music centre, TV and DVD player for which a selection of films are available, board games and reading material.

Then on the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms; bathroom - bath with shower over, wash hand basin and WC. All rooms have wall mounted electric convector heaters (electric included high season but 15€ per week off peak). A washing machine is available for your use. Bed linen, kitchen linen and towels not provided but can be hired from the owner at 8€ per person per wk. Three times a week, the owner offers you a fine four course meal, including wine for a very reasonable 18€ per head. This is something many guests have enjoyed and return for more!

Tom Jolliehope is the oldest surviving building in Kerfourn dating from around 1736. It became the priest's house in 1813 and has remained unoccupied from 1946 until its total renovation over the last 2 years. It has been carefully restored to include original stonework and oak beams whilst being thoroughly modernised to provide a charming holiday home.

There is a 35 sq metre downstairs area with a large lounge, feature fireplace & wood-burning stove. There is a separate kitchen with all modern appliances including washing machine and full cooker with grill. There are central stairs leading to a small sitting area on a bright landing.

There is a bedroom with twin bunks and a large family bathroom with bath, hand basin and w.c. The main bedroom has a double bed and a private en-suite shower room with hand basin & w.c. There is thermostat controlled convection heating to all rooms with ceiling fans to the landing & both bedrooms. The cottage is completely furnished & equipped to a high standard with T.V DVD player and music centre.

Outside you will find a private garden with private access and parking. The rental charge covers all costs including electricity up to 18kwhs per week. The meter reading is taken on arrival and departure and usage in excess of this amount is charged at cost.

Kerfourn is extremely quiet and has minimal but adequate local services - boulangerie, general store and two bars. Less than half a mile away there is a well stocked trout and coarse lake where you can fish all day for £2.50 and take as many trout as you like back to the cottage and cook them on the barbeque in the garden. Fishing tackle is available to borrow free. Also a selection of bikes are available which many guests find very useful.

Pontivy - 5 miles - has restaurants, night clubs, shops, cinemas and swimming pool. Josselin - 12 miles - medieval town with an imposing Chateau. Beaches - the nearest beaches are about 35 minutes drive away. Carnac and Trinité-sur-Mer are less than an hour away.
