Rural Cottage in quiet corner nr Ménéac
Sleeps 4 This cottage is safely tucked away at the end of a long lane so gives you a lovely quiet location overlooking the surrounding arable fields.
The kitchen/dining area is large with many original features like the exposed beams and stonework. The kitchen has all you will need including dishwasher, washing machine, gas oven & hob, fridge, microwave etc.
The lounge has wonderful large windows and as it faces south, gets the best of the sun. There is a TV and DVD player (no reception) and a CD player. There are also a section of books and DVDs. Upstairs there is a family bathroom, with bath, showerhead, WC and vanity sink unit. Also on this first floor you will find the double bedroom with comfortable bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Up a further flight of stairs is the twin bedroom, with pine beds. The stairs leading to the uppermost floor are quite steep, so the top bedroom may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Bed linen is included and if you want towels, these can be hired at 5€ per person, payable locally. Outside there is a patio area with garden furniture and BBQ. Cot and Highchair available. Area From the house it is an easy 20 minutes drive to the medieval town of Josselin or Ploermel and the Lac au Duc where you can spend time sailing or relaxing on the beach area. If you wish to travel slightly further it is only 45 minutes to Vannes which is at the head of the gulf of Morbihan. Barely 5 minutes away is the village of Ménéac which has local bars and shops.
The beautiful town of Josselin is only a short drive from the cottage. Josselin boasts a fine chateau overlooking the Nantes - Brest canal. You can also visit the historic basilica of Notre-dame-du-Roncier or sample the bustling Saturday morning street market. The Lac au Duc near Ploermel, a large lake just 5 minutes drive from the cottages, offers fishing, various water sports and golf (pictured left). You can also hire a pedalo and swim at the man made beach in the height of summer (pictured far left). The Hortensia Trail offers a unique opportunity to view over fifty varieties of hydrangea as part of an idyllic walk alongside the lake.
Broceliande and the Nantes - Brest Canal Towards Campénéac you enter the mysterious Forest of Brocéliande, where the moor-land is illuminated by the sunny colour of gorse and broom. Megalithic monuments can be found, a sign of the ancestors who lived in this magnificent place. Visit the splendid Château of Trécesson (pictured right) and there are plenty of footpaths and trails if you wish to explore Brocéliande. The famous Nantes to Brest Canal, once an important trading waterway, now offers a picturesque setting for visitors. You can opt for a walk along the towpaths, a cycle ride or a quiet boating trip.
