Area

Josselin

The beautiful town of Josselin is only a ten minute drive from the Breton Knights cottages. Josselin boasts a fine chateau overlooking the Nantes - Brest canal. You can also visit the historic basilica of Notre-dame-du-Roncier or sample the bustling Saturday morning street market.

The Lac au Duc

The Lac au Duc near Ploërmel, a large lake just 5 minutes drive from the cottages, offers fishing, various water sports and golf (pictured below). You can also hire a pedalo and swim at the man made beach in the height of summer. The Hortensia Trail offers a unique opportunity to view over fifty varieties of hydrangea as part of an idyllic walk alongside the lake.

Broceliande and the Nantes - Brest Canal

Towards Campénéac you enter the mysterious Forest of Brocéliande, where the moor-land is illuminated by the sunny colour of gorse and broom. Megalithic monuments can be found, a sign of the ancestors who lived in this magnificent place. Visit the splendid Château of Trécesson and there are plenty of footpaths and trails if you wish to explore Brocéliande.

The famous Nantes to Brest Canal, once an important trading waterway, now offers a picturesque setting for visitors. You can opt for a walk along the towpaths, a cycle ride or a quiet boating trip.

Auray and Vannes

With its bustling harbour, fabulous restaurants and art galleries, Auray is well worth a visit.

Vannes (pictured above), with its ramparts, beautiful formal gardens, aquarium and fine restaurants, shouldn't be missed.

The Gulf du Morbihan and Brittany's Beaches

The beaches in the Gulf du Morbihan, along the southern coast of Brittany, are famous for their golden sand and clean waters. Carnac (pictured below) is one such example of the beautiful beaches to be found within easy driving distance.
